A Bit About Caitlyn…

Caitlyn McCain (she/her) is an award winning NYC based applied theatre practitioner, actor, educator and voice professional. She holds an MA in Applied Theatre from the City University of New York and a BFA in Drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.  As an artist and educator, Caitlyn has collaborated with a wide range of student populations through theatre, including K-12 students across all five boroughs of NYC, young people in transitional housing facilities and neuro-diverse communities. Her work centers social-emotional growth through a trauma-informed lens with the goal of fostering a generation of creative critical thinkers who have the tools to mindfully and meaningfully engage with the world around them.

As of August 2023, Caitlyn is the Associate Program Director Director of the CAT Youth Theatre. Prior to joining the CAT team, Caitlyn created and co-produced Start the Conversation, a series by New York City Children’s Theater that provides grown-ups with the language and tools necessary to start and continue nuanced conversations around big topics with their children. She is also the co-creator and co-host of The Trauma-Informed Toolkit for Educators, a training series designed to provide educators with a deeper understanding of trauma and its effects on childhood development, while offering a set of tools to help create supportive, healing centered, trauma-informed environments. Additionally, Caitlyn is a Drama Curriculum Specialist with The Juilliard School’s K-12 Programs and Initiatives and has been featured in the New York Times for her work engaging young people through theatre during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Caitlyn believes that theatre is the most powerful way to connect with yourself and the world around you. She is committed to creating anti-oppressive, anti-racist, accessible, trauma-informed theatre explorations that support a generation of people who lead with curiosity and creativity, honor humanity and are unafraid of the unfamiliar.
